Jim Ruig has been inspired by antique treasures and how they can enrich your life and your home. It began when Jim and his wife Leigh began renovating old Queenslanders and transformed them into beautiful homes that were decorated with outstanding architectural building materials and antiques.

It was finding these unique and long forgotten architectural antiques that inspired Jim's passion to form Salvage. You only need to step into the Salvage Brisbane or Sydney Showrooms to view the array of treasures and the possibilities of how to enrich your home or business. Every piece has it's own history and brings not only their stunning appearance but a unique conversation piece.

Jim and Leigh Ruig regularly travel overseas to search for new treasures and return with containers filled with rare and bygone treasures which hold a everlasting beauty.

With new stock arriving regularly every visit to the Sydney or Brisbane showroom will bring interesting selections for both home owners and interior designers.  Some of the most commented pieces in our showrooms are several Art Deco pieces, sculptures and the extraordinary cabinets and tables looking for new homes and so many have admired the stunning marble baths.

Our staff at Salvage Brisbane and Sydney has an expertise in restoration, timber and decorative art and antiques and they can assist you, as you browse our showrooms or search for the perfect addition to your home or business.

The opportunity to work within a creative and contemporary environment was the initial attraction when I started with Salvage several years ago.  Since the unpacking of the first container from Buenos Aires, I've developed a strong appreciation for Salvage's passion.  I  consider the architectural elements and antiques that Salvage has to offer are an exciting resource for Brisbane Architects, Designers and Homeowners alike.  French Chandeliers are my current favourite!

I joined Salvage with a passion for beautiful things and have been continually inspired by each new container. Running the Sydney Showroom means meeting a lot of interesting people and being part of the building or design projects that our customers, their designers and architects bring to us looking for a solution to their flooring, structural or decorative needs. Our Remilled French Oak Wine Barrel flooring and solid French oak wideboard are amongst our most popular products.

The Danks Street, Waterloo area is a magnet for those in the know and on the hunt for quality food, furniture, art, lunch or coffee. The new Salvage Showroom has blended well into this precinct and is a part of Sydney still being discovered by many.  You can be assured of a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Salvage Sydney and we've been complimented for being a shop that is distinguished but where a dress code is not required.   Located in an architecturally converted warehouse, Salvage Sydney is surrounded by fine food and art in the Waterloo district.

It is a delighting challenge to work in the architectural and design field creating and refining environments for the Salvage clients. Working to source the right products for the right project is immensely satisfying. Many architectural elements have a rich and interesting history which is exciting for myself and the individual, designer or project manager that I may be working with. I enjoy meeting and working with new people and being able to fit the technical and design elements required by our customers in the Melbourne Salvage Showroom makes every day interesting.
